HW 1: Due on Friday, February 13
Look over pages 298-307 in your textbook and define (in your notes) the concepts of angular displacement, angular velocity, and angular acceleration. Then answer problems 5, 17, 55, and 63 from page 343.
HW 2: Due on Wednesday, February 18
Solve problem 15 on page 217. Then determine the angular acceleration of the skier at the bottom of the incline.
Happy Minicourse-- no homework!!!
HW 3: Due on Thursday, March 5
Finish problem 113 on page 351. Be sure to arrive in class with a clear, concise, complete solution.
HW 4: Due on Tuesday, March 10
Solve problem 127 on page 351 and problem 139 on page 352.
HW 5: Due on Thursday
(to the tune of "Uptown Girls")
Mousetrap Cars,
you've been working on your mousetrap cars
I'll bet you haven't really finished them yet
which might just make you nervous as heck
If I were you I'd try to finish them up,
bring them to school, and figure out "what's up"
if everything's okay then heave a sigh of relief
and if it's not than be ready for a weekend of grief
beyond belief
HW 6: Due on Tuesday, March 17
Mousetrap Cars are due!!!
HW 7: Due on Thursday, March 19
Prepare for Mousetrap Car Laboratory Analysis
HW 8: Due on Monday, March 23
Prepare the analysis section for your mousetrap lab report. You probably won't have data to analyze, since the majority of you will be finishing the data collection during the first half of Monday's class. However, you SHOULD be able to derive the EXACT equations that you will be using to find your angular acceleration and tension values, so that once you have values to data to plug into the equations you will have results in 2 seconds. Roughly. The reports are due on Wednesday, NOT on Monday!!
HW 9: Due on Tuesday, April 14
Read Section 8.9 (Rotational KE) on pages 328-329.
Solve problem 139 on page 352, and then determine the total kinetic energy (translational plus rotational) after the hoop has rolled (from rest) 1 meter down the incline.
HW 10: Due on Friday, April 17
Read Sections 8.10, 8.11 Angular Momentum and its Conservation
Do problem 171 on page 354
HW 11: Due on Tuesday, April 21
Prepare for in-class assessment on the Rotation Unit
